Reasons Why HIAB Sales Are Still Going Strong

Reasons Why HIAB Sales Are Still Going Strong
By Jake Clarke

In 2007 HIAB sales reached a total of over 900 million euros. HIAB is part of Cargotec Corporation which is a global leader in cargo handling solutions. The company employs more than 4,000 workers. HIAB stands for Hydrauliska Industri AB, and was formed in Hudiksvall, Sweden in 1944, when Eric Sundin, a Scandinavian ski manufacturer converted the power produced by a trucks engine into a lifting machine by the use of hydraulics for a truck mounted crane.

The company has been producing quality trucks and cranes since its establishment and now has 5 different trucks used in road construction and heavy lifting. HIAB started distributing its products across Finland and neighboring nations, and eventually worldwide.

Most sales of the company come from loader cranes, demountable container trucks, forestry cranes, tail lifts and forklift trucks. The biggest demand for these products is in loader cranes which have been known to provide quality performance for over 6 decades. Their cranes can handle the toughest jobs in the construction industry.

The loader cranes are built on the understanding that typical road works will need equipment that is versatile, reliable, and safe to use. Speed and quick mechanical response is also a must. Their cranes, like the XS 166 is equipped with a clamshell bucket which can easily remove old road surfaces and load the debris such as 800 kilograms of asphalt efficiently.

The crane handlers and drivers have noticed the ease of handling and user friendly characteristics of these trucks. The trucks have a radio controlled facility the lets the operator carry out tasks from a distance, remotely.

The company is known to place safety before anything else and has been a favorite of construction workers and crane operators because it lets them do their work safely. Truck operators do not have to be subjected to unhealthy fumes of fresh asphalt as they lay it on new roads.
