Understanding Lean Muscle Workouts

Understanding Lean Muscle Workouts
By Aulden Warbrooke

Back in the 80s and early 90s the trend was to be buff and bulky. However, nowadays the new "buff and bulky" trend is to be lean. Trying to get lean is not as hard as people may put it to be and it certainly is not a walk in the park as well. Like everything in life, you can only be successful with hard work.

Getting lean is all about shredding body fat and trying not to become too bulky while doing resistance workouts. But how exactly will you do weights and workout in a way that you won't gain too much bulk? I'll provide a few tips that have been proven to work.

Mixing Cardio and Resistance Frequently

Like I stated above, getting lean is about torching body fat. However, we don't want to get rid of any/much muscle mass. You will find two ways in which you can mix up cardio and strength training inside your workout routines. They're going the following:

Lift Weights Followed By Cardio - doing cardio after resistance training has been proven to burn significantly more amounts of fat when compared to doing cardio before lifting weights. I recommend that you stick to your normal cardio routines but do them only after your main workouts for maybe at least 2 - 3 times a week if you are short for time.

Circuit Training - I can not remember the amount of times I have discussed circuit training and how it is, for me personally, one of the better types of body fat burning programs for anyone. I recommend that you just do circuit training 3 occasions each week if you are a beginner after which you can start 4 to 5 occasions each week when you are familiar with it.

Workout Techniques To Get Lean

Lifting Light Weights, Increased Reps - this method is used by countless body builders when trying to tone down in mass. Lifting light weights does not always mean you have to stop while using weight you are accustomed with. Look for a weight that may help you accomplish 15-20 reps for 3-4 sets. Bear in mind the weight should be heavy enough not to burn you out too soon or otherwise provide you with a less effective workout.

Not Lifting To Failure - in my opinion, that is still merely a theory. I've not attempted it but I know a lot of people that have proven it to work. Really, this is not counted beneath the category of lean muscle workouts as it is used by people who would like to increase their overall strength without adding extra unnecessary mass.
